Audrey lost her tooth!!!
Unexpectedly, this ushered in a new era for me as a mother: I joined the ranks of Mama's carrying on the tradition of the tooth fairy. I'll be honest, I was nervous about sneaking into the kid's room to make the switch, but, obviously, I made it without incident. Just look at how many more of those swaps I'm going to have to make, though! And then multiply it by two! I never realized how taxing the work of the tooth fairy really is. Theoretically, I didn't want to do anything too over the top, but I'm me. So, I found a 2-Euro coin with a picture of Neuschwanstein castle on the back and painted a golden tooth on the other side with glittery puff paint.
This little tooth was one of the first ones to pop through Audrey's gums and it came entirely out with very little fuss. This kid is obviously just as proud as can be. We've had a tooth fairy pillow that her Grand Aunt Jeanne gave her when she was just a baby, along with a prophetic mention that we'd be needing it before we knew it. And, as usual, she was right.
We woke up to the sound of Audrey crying--a terrifying sound to come from my good sleeper. Come to find out, she couldn't feel her coin in her tooth fairy pillow and thought she'd be passed by. You can see, though, that she cheered up quite a bit. She decided that the castle on her coin must be the tooth fairy's and convinced me to switch her coin for a different 2 Euros that she could spend at the store; she wanted to keep this one so badly. In the end, she spent her Euros at Libro, where she bought a surprise pouch with a little pony inside.
