This time last week I knew Bailey was on her way...I just didn't know how very soon she would be here. In five hours Bailey will officially be a week old and it feels like the time has already flown by. Since I've been absolutely horrible about taking pictures and doing video chats, I thought I would do a little run down on what we've learned about Bailey so far.
- She has steely blue eyes just like her big sis
- but they're not open very often...she likes to sleep like her Mama. Praise the Lord!
- She has short dark hair, but no eyebrows and very light lashes (maybe we'll have another towhead after all?)
- Most mornings she has a period of about two hours where she's awake and very alert. And she's content to just be awake and alert. After Audrey, that's very weird to get used to.
- If she does get crabby while she's awake, she's either hungry or gassy...because she stubbornly refuses to burp after feeding. Her Uncle Joe might need to teach her how to belch.
- Speaking of eating, she's only been supplemented with formula four times. My milk supply has finally caught up with her demand and I officially have a breast fed baby! You have no idea how good that makes me feel!
- We've been co-sleeping for the last week and I'm starting to think I might like it too much. The motivation to move her to the bassinet is just not there.
- Bailey and I are two peas in a pod when it comes to our outlook on sleeping and eating: both should be frequent events and should also require the least possible amount of effort.
- She seldom cries during the night; her little grunts usually wake me up and she nurses until she falls back asleep. It's a beautiful thing.
- The kid can cry, but mostly it's quiet and unconvincing.
- Today in church the only noise she made was a single loud squawk during the quietest possible moment in the sermon. The pastor then looked up and animatedly asked "Was that Bailey?" and proceeded to announce that it was her first Sunday. John and I both blushed. It was a fantastic introduction.
- My nickname for her is "rump roast" because she mostly just wants to curl up and sleep on someone's chest. She's like a warm little loaf of bread. mmmmm....
- Bailey and I have similar personalities and are coincidentally the same blood type. (O-) John and Audrey are already in cahoots and are both O+. For these reasons we have decided to create two clubs: The Dragons (John and Lil A) have a club house in Audrey's closet and like to play with her shape toys and eat cookies. The Gunniwolves (Me and Baby B) claim our club house is in our bedroom closet, but really we're too busy sleeping and eating to do any other club activities. The blood type thing is purely coincidental, but I think it may take a third sibling to see if it's an accurate means to determine club membership.
- If the last bullet made little sense to you, it's because these are the things John and I come up with when we get to spend a week together and are subjected to sleep deprivation.

In Dragon news, Audrey is adjusting to life with a little sister really well. It hasn't been easy and there are a lot of new rules and routines for her to get used to, but she is proving to be a very adaptable little kid. John goes back to work tomorrow, so this week will be the big test to see how I handle two under two by myself. We've got a lot of doctor's appointments and things on the To-Do list, so I'll probably appear to have dropped off the radar. Bailey has her next doctor's appointment on Thursday and Audrey is also having her 18 month appointment then; I'll try to update with their stats later this week. In the mean time, make sure you keep checking for new
pictures and keep me in your thoughts this week! It's a bit daunting!
